I too had issues with this machine early on during the warrany period & a svc. tech came out. He could not duplicate my concern which was the loud knocking sound I heard intermittently on some loads. I knew a washer should not be doing that during agitation but of course the noise continued. What eventually ocurred was the UL code and Code F 51 as well as Code F1. Finally the machine simply would not finish the load & I had soaking wet clothes that would not spin out & what a mess that was. The svc. tech that came out did see that code issues had occurred but beyond that he didn't see a problem. I practically had to stand on my head to get the tech to listen to me. No one knows their appliances better than the customer & Sears techs need to respect that. I told him that there was something very badly wrong with this machine & I wasn't going to let him leave without finding the problem. He finally gave up, lifted the machine so he could see the underside & he almost immediately found that the stator/motor was cracked & the rotor was being held on only by a magnet! I didn't try calling a Sears VP, I got the mailing address for the CEO & sent him a letter regarding this machine & the fact that no reasonable person should or could expect a Sears washer to fail in a couple of years & especially when it saw such light use by a senior living alone. Sears did finally replace the motor at no cost to me but only after much dialog with a Chicago customer service person. I now have an issue with the noise level of this machine sounding like a jet engine about to take off. I surely hope that isn't the bearings! Another service call & expense coming up for this worthless machine. I did indeed contact the law firm that has filed a class action against Sears regarding this washer. andrusandersonLLP.com in San Francisco is the firm.

All I can say to you Sears is F2 You! Paid $2000.00 for the set you would think you would be getting high quality. In the first year I had it they had to replace the control board. Now I have replaced the drain pump 4 times. I check pockets when I do laundry but occassionally a coin or two will get down into the washer and it goes to the drain pump. I cracks it and water leaks everywhere. Everytime I replace this part it costs me $100.00. So now I have spent $1500.00 on the washer alone. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a screen for this pump? We bought it about 5 years ago. A few years later we received a control board in the mail with a note that said Sears was replacing it as part of a recall and that a service tech would be coming to install it at no charge. We were seeing some excessive vibration then but the wash cycles were still completing.

Then about 6 months ago we started getting the UL code on every load. I did a lot of research on the internet and found that it could be caused by a bad rotor position sensor (RPS), a bad control board, or clothes that had somehow gotten between the inner and outer tub. So I took the machine apart and found a pair of underwear underneath the inner tub. I put it back together and the vibration was marginally better. But it wasn't long and we were getting the UL code again.

So I ordered a new RPS sensor from an appliance parts store on the internet. For my particular model number, Whirlpool (they are the manufacturer, Sears just sells them under the Kenmore name) redesigned the sensor so it connects more securely to the wiring harness and has less chance of vibrating loose. So I had to buy a kit that includes the redesigned wiring harness and RPS. While searching for the best price I noticed that some places even called this a washer unbalance kit.

After I installed the kit I started getting an F51 code, which means it's a bad RPS. Since that's what I just replaced and since I had not been getting this code before, I reasoned that I had gotten a bad part. I called the company that I ordered it from and they sent another one. I just got it two days ago, installed it, and it works beautifully. The F51 code is gone, and it spins smoothly with no more UL codes.

Our Oasis Elite HE is also throwing codes and comp...

Our Oasis Elite HE is also throwing codes and completing stopping at the 17minute mark. Have had the same issues with the F1 error codes and other codes. Never had the mother board replaced because can't afford to have the service repair cost. The board has seemed to correct itself because it washes just fine now. It does twist the clothes sometimes and makes the sheets look like the head of a jelly fish when done with spin cycle. The problem that I am having now is the really Loud spin cycle like the bearings are going out. I have seen that in a lot of posts in this thread and many other threads that the outer tub assembly needs to be replaced. I have watched videos on how to tear the machine down and repair and will most likely be doing the repair myself. However, I read in one post, which I can't find again, that someone got their inner and outer tub replaced under a 10 original factory warranty and just paid labor for the repair. Has anyone else seen that post?

My wife and I bought a GE washer when we were firs...

My wife and I bought a GE washer when we were first married,16 years and three kids later it was time for a new washer. We "upgraded" to the Oasis for a number of reasons, it was supposed to be energy effcient, be better for our clothes, and last but not least was backed by the reliablity of the Sears Kenmore/Whirlpool names. We bought into all that crap none of which is true by our experience, and yes I puchased the 3 year extended warrantee. This piece of shit has literally been rebuilt part by part. water pump, stainless steel tub, bearings, motherboard, sensors and wiring. the motor was also disasembled and serviced. The service contract is now expired and this waste of space has ceased to function yet again.(F33 error). It's not too hard to figure out why Sears is going under. I will buy a new washer from anybody but Sears. We bought the warranty also - 13 repair visits in the first three years - 6 weeks before warranty expired we renewed due to the lies of the supervisors supervisor promising a replacement if we had any issues within 12 months - 2 months later, new issue - supervisors supervisor no longer with the company - 4 repairs in that following year.

As for the service technicians...the first service call we made 6 weeks after purchase was due to the washer leaking. The teh told my wife 'these machines just drip water because all the baffles they use to keep them quiet get wet'. She called me while I was at work to inform me of his expert opinion - I had her throw him out as I called sears to get someone with at least a middle school education. Really, my $1200 washing machine that sits on my $14000.00 wood floor 'just leaks'??? Next technician came out to discover that the geniuses from Sears delivery never leveled the machine since they could only spend 22 minutes in my house to get a $50 tip.

Now the machine is about 5 years old...will not complete a load of laundry without the UL code due to that fact that the drum or basket or whatever seems to not even be attached to machine anymore...the hinges on the lid are both rusted out and essentially gone so that the lid is not even actually attached anymore...machine has ruined well over $1000 worth of clothing...it has cost my wife and I over 100 hours of time off of work waiting for repair technicians who never show up with all the information we call in about if they even show up at all...we spent over $500 in the warranties...I could go on and on and on.

With all of these unknown cost, we could've bought a new $500 washer every year and still been ahead of the game.

If anyone is really still considering buying one of these I'll give you a great deal.

I just spent $79.95 on a “diagnostic” from the loc...

I just spent $79.95 on a “diagnostic” from the local repair shop. I purchased my Oasis washer in 2007 and the extended warranty. I have had a repair man here every year since purchasing this washer for UL, CPU board, agitator issues, and error code. My warranty ran out 10/2011 and I’m having the UL issue with wash “even when there is nothing in the washing machine”. The technician said the shaft has gotten bent from stress of the previous UL problems. Now it will cost me $200+ for the part, $100+ for the install, and the $79.95 I just spent for the diagnostic service call. I did not get any recall notice because they said it wasn’t in the recall list. I called the US Consumer Safety and Protection, they said they couldn’t help if it wasn’t causing a safety issue. I called the VA State Consumer Protection Office, they said to file a complaint and they would investigate and contact the company on my behalf. I’ve called Sears twice and they want me to spent $129+ for another “diagnostic” technician. I just want it replaced or the repair covered. It can’t run a load without needing manual intervention. And my husband has started taking the clothes to the laundry mat. I spent around $600 for the washer in 2007. I didn’t even know until today that Whirlpool makes these washers, I was told it was a Kenmore (Sears product). I wont buy another Sears applicance. It started doing “strange” things after only three and a half yrs. Mine refuses to start when I push the button. If I have enough time and patience, I stand there and start pushing buttons and praying. It is constantly coming up with all kinds of fault codes. It will not let me select any setting at all. I can’t control the water temp. or water level. The cycle signal beeps constantly all day and night. Obviously the electronic control panel has a mind of its own. If it does feel like starting, it looks like a Christmas tree with all the lights blinking. It goes through every soil level, water level, and temp. setting, constantly switching its settings the whole time. The beeping never stops. It scared me to death one day when with the lid open and the machine off, it decided to start spinning and filling with water. It does whatever it wants to and when it wants to do it. I finally had to start unplugging it. I’m convinced it is possessed! Sears wants over $400.00 to repair it. Are they serious? That’s more than half of what it cost brand new. We have been loyal customers to Sears for over 25yrs. Every major appliance in our home has come from Sears. Based on all the negative reports on this washer, Sears should stand behind it. I have always felt protected and safe shopping at Sears, but not anymore. They have done nothing but rip people off by not making this right.

Don't even get me started. We had the problems with the twisting and fraying of our clothes at first. We may have had our washer about 3 months before the first error code. I figured I didn't read the information packet well enough and readjusted the load to get it to work. After the first few codes, I read the manual. Then, read it again. Thus begun our fun, worthless calls to Sears Customer Service. By the 6 month time, we had a repairman come out. Not sure what exactly he did but I do know what when he left it was working again BUT the lid wouldn't lock. I called back about that being unsafe and was told "it will be fine". I didn't have to worry long because a few days later, the washer had "coded" for its last time. We called nonstop to Sears and they eventually sent us a replacement board for free after MUCH persuasion! Unfortunately, even a brand spankin' new board was no help. Within weeks, it was the same old story! I filed with a class action lawsuit that I found online over a year ago. Still nothing. I pulled our 18 year old Kenmore washer out of storage and that is what we are using now. I just am FURIOUS that Sears hasn't accepted responsibility for it at all. I don't know if that is the way they now do business but we were loyal customers for years. However, this has really ruined our opinion of them and we won't be buying anything else from them.
