All my friends think I am really wierd (they're probably right, but it's good to not be alone).

Two quick notes that I think you will find interesting.

The first is in regards to the Electrolux washers and dryers. I am in appliance sales, and we recently got the new Electrolux machines on our floor. I have several concerns with these machines. The first is the UMRP that Electrolux is enforcing on all their appliances. In the competitive world of home appliances, it is hard to justify a higher, untouchable price when the quality isn't much higher and you aren't able to offer incentives to the consumer. The second concern I have is that I think they got a little too "cute" on the design. The detergent/bleach tray is opened with a push button control, which is spring loaded, whereas every other brand allows you to pull the tray out. We had our first tray break within a couple days of having it on display. The door is also opened with a push button as opposed to using a handle. I've seen this hold true over the years, the more moving parts (especially unecessary ones), the more propensity for failure.

Secondly, in regards to Extended Warranties. Are you familiary with the warranty company NEW? My company recently partnered up with them, and I have been very impressed with them. They have won JD Powers and Associates customer service award for the past 4 years, and as far as I know, are the only service company to do so. They use 7 US-based call centers that are open 24/7, and have great features on their no-lemon policies (3 failures over the course of the warranty, versus 3 failures in a 12 month period like GE). I know of several regional and national chains that sell their services, which can be very appealing, and they are very reasonably priced (versus Sears and A&E Factory Service). I think its always a good idea for consumers to ask who is actually going to be guaranteeing their warranty, because some companies are much better than others.

Just my 2 cents!
