For some time, I have been getting visitors to my blog as a result of Google searches referencing a class action lawsuit for the Oasis/Cabrio/Bravos machines. I have no idea what is taking place in different parts of the country in regard to legal action on the basis of the f51 error codes.
I do, however, know of at least on firm (I've no doubt there are probably many more) that is investigating these problems in the Kenmore Oasis washers. More information can be found at this site: Kenmore Oasis Class Action Investigation.
If any of you contact this firm, let me know what happens.

Today (4/3/09) I got a letter from Sears. They will replace the electronic control board (you know, the F-51 business) for FREE, in warranty or not. Serial #s for the Bad Board begin: CS48 - CS52 or CT01-CT49. Call Sears at 800-847-9083. The voices of all of us have finally been heard! There is, as stated above, a class action attorney firm in San Francisco looking into a legal remedy.
I had my control panel replaced free of charge after a long wait. Unfortunately, a little over 3 months later, the f51 code has come back, and my washer is no longer functioning. Sears has refused to take any further action, despite the fact that this is a faulty design and "lemon" washer.
Have had 5 service calls since I purcashed 09-06. F1 problem, they have file on the gear, replaced 2 timers wiring harness< did request a new washer. they put enough time and parts to purcash a new machine. Now that the warranty and service agreement is expired. they are saying my machines doesnt have a recall will not take care of. I have been so much run around the 800 no are just a bunch of trained chones that give the same speech. I worked for customer service and as a parts pro for Sears for 25 yrs. was trained that the customer was alway right; and alway made exceptions..Have purchased every applaince I have from Sears, never again
The oasis washers are pieces of sh-t! I cannot believe that their engineers allowed these dung piles to be mass produced and sold with the kenmore name on them. Tsk tsk tsk. You live, you learn. I've owned mine for about two years... nothing but problems from the start!
I have had my machine for two years now. I bought the washer and dryer set brand new. I have Sears out 11 timesto fix the F50&F51 error codes. The last time I had the washer fixed the repair man was not even out of my driveway when the washer once again stopped and flashed the error code. I have not had a working washer in about 4 months and I have just spent another long night being sent from department to department (one lady told me to call Whirlpool and gave me their number. She told me that that was who manufactured my washing machine..........really i'm not kidding!) on the phone. I don't know what to do! Sears wants $150.00 just to come out and then $450.00 for the part. I can not afford to have them fix it and I can not afford a new washer and in the mean time I have 3 kids who have no clean clothes and I have to spend more money at the laundry mat tomorrow. I've been on the Class Action Site but have not heard anything back from them since this past spring.
The sensor is not snapped in tightly.. this happened to me twice. Vibrations and heat mean it wiggles loose over time and for me this is about a year or so. The first time was within the year so it was covered.
If your machine is serial number CS48 - CS52 or CT01-CT49 the recall has now been downgraded to CS48 - CS52 or CT01-CT35
So I was snookered into buying a warranty to cover for this. I anticipate it happening again.
Also, I found this fix on another site which led me here, but I'm not able to do this:
"We also had the dreaded F51 problem. The issue is the connection between the control board and the
motor sensor board. The fix is fully described in the World of Washers web site. Basically, you need
to remove the motor magnet assembly, thus exposing the sensor board. Remove the connector to the
motor sensor assembly and clean it. What I did was to re-insert the connector after applying
Stabilant-22A to the connection. Stabilant is a contact enhancer and is used in automotive and
healthcare applications. After doing this, I've been F51 free for about 4 months."
To the poster who said they were told to call Whirlpool - that is correct.
Actually Sears does NOT make these machines, they just sell them. It's Whirlpool/Maytag and yes I did call them directly to discuss why this keeps happening and I told them about the twice looseness which would seem to go along with the fact that Stabilant-22A might help make the 'connection' that is lost when the sensor wiggles loose.
I am currently on hold trying to resolve this issue as well. Is there any sense in replacing this if it is due to lack of contact? I have to have the tub replaced as well, so the repairman is coming back (after a 2 week wait to have him come out!) Jan 5 to replace the tub and of course, has the mother board in his truck due to many people needing that replaced! Mine is the CT50, so is not covered by the recall.
has anyone had a problem with the 280 series. I just got mine about a month ago. 1100 for the washer and dryer together, and im afraid this is going to happen. I can see where the high speed washer would shake things loose, im now thinking i should call and tell them i dont want it and want to switch it to something else. anyone?
Here is another F51 code. After the run around from Sears and wanting $129 just to come out and look at it, the washer bearing needed to be replaced. The technician, who was actually rude to my wife before I came home, ordered the parts to delivered to our home. The only silver lining is that the bearing is under warranty. He said if any of the plastic is broken to go ahead and order a new part. Well, guess what? The replacement part is broken. You would think with all these problems, they would just stock a warehouse with them, but I digress. So now after all the fake thanks for shopping at Sears stuff, it's really left a bad taste in our mouths. Never again will a Kenmore appliance cross the threshold. The kicker is, is that the repair tech said these parts wear out every three years! As an above noted, how did these engineers let these things loose to the general public, for sale I might add.
We also have had issues with the F51 code in the past, actually after being out of warranty only a couple months (we didn't buy extended warranty) we had service guy out only after agreeing to pay over $200 for a one year warranty. The computer panel behind the controls was replaced, no more F51 codes, but the machine is oh so sensitive always giving unbalanced load codes, it seems the machine can't do a load without the "uL" code. We're ready to toss the thing. We are also done with Kenmore products. Does anyone else have problems with load sensitivity?
Also had a problem with a Sears purchased appliance, they eventually fixed it free of charge, so there is light at the end of the tunnel, just be persistent!
Model # 110.27032603 Serial # CT 5270583 Oasis has been doing this F1 code at least 6 times a load it makes doing laundry a real chore and impossible to do.

I realize this is about the washer but what about the dryer. I purchased mine in 2006 and had to have that replaced a few mos. later and now this one has been failing since 2009. I keep reviving it somehow. I do believe that the control board and electronics don't hold up well or flake out and I have removed the control board several times, cleaned the buttons and then put that same control board back in getting the machine to work again. Have also left the machine unplugged for days, weeks and at one point for 2 mos. and then when I plugged it in again it worked. However, should NOT have to do this. Had the control board replaced in my washing machine but still get leaking under the machine from time to time. Expensive waste of money. I am surprised with all of the complaints these have not been recalled.
My washer model 110.27062603 just started acting up. during a cycle it beeps and the soil level keeps changing. Still runs through the cycle but is anoying. My matching dryer always stops and gets the F44 code. Nothing is wrong with the vent. Sears was out once to fix the dryer and the problem came back the next day.
Sears Oasis without agitator in the middle is the worst functioning washing machine to hit the stores. Please be careful and do not get sold on the great spinning that saves energy!! All the life is washed out of my clothes; new items look 10 years old, all the garments get tangled with each other or whatever threads happened to be loose. The fabric softener gets totally washed out in the rinse and the wrinkles from the "rapid spin" become permanent, even in wrinkle free clothing. I've had to throw all my dress bras away as the wrinkles from the spin will not wash out, dry out, nor iron out! I usually hang dry my clothes but now I have to throw them in the dryer for at least 10 minutes with at least two sheets of Bounce in order to relax the wrinkles. Then I hang them to dry, and MUST iron out the wrinkles before wearing. Even prestain treatment did not remove spots out of clothing. I am absolutely dumbfounded that such an outrageously, poorly designed product is represented through Sears, Kenmore and Whurlpool. Buyer Beware!
My washer has been a problem since day one. It has totally destroyed my towels, sheet, jeans, shorts and has even put holes in tshirts. My mother has a regular washer and has towels that are twenty years old that are in great shape. I have replaced my towels so manny times because they get ripped on the edges. I just had Sears out today and they changed some parts. I hope it helps. I showed the service repair men by shredded edges on my towels and sheets. I even showed the shredded edges of my son's shorts.
I go to the laundry mat alot. I need to get a new machine.....have a maintenance contract so I keep calling Sears back out hoping that one day I will get a new machine. The service repair men are great, the machine is just horrible.
My Kenmore Elite Oasis washer has also ruined many of my clothes since day one. I never did anything about it. So the other day, my washer completely stopped working during a wash cycle. I just had the repair guy out today and it was the control panel that went out after two years of use. I also told him about the hole in my shirts problem and he said the entire barrel would need to be replaced. When he gave me the quote to replace it all, it would cost me more than a new one. So,I told him forget it. He gave me a coupon for a new purchase.
I think it's really horrible that Sears won't stand buy their products unless you buy their rip off maintenance agreements. I did used to work for Sears for over 25 years and I honestly remember a day when Sears was a reputable company and would go out of their way to help the customer. It's sad to see a once great company go down the toilet so fast. My machine was only 2 years old. They should at least have a 3 year guarentee.
I Had this Kenmore Elite Oasis for 2 years and have had problems with it for the last 6 months. Tech came out tried to fix it but has the same problems which is spin cycle will not complete. The code is UL through the entire cycle. Machine shake rattle and roll when on spin cycle. Have to turn machine off and ring out the clothes by hand to toss in dryer. Paid tech $400.00 with no hope to correct the problem. PLEASE ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUITE ON THE KENMORE ELITE OASIS WASHER. I NEED TO KNOW AND IF ANY WAY SEARS CAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SELLING THIS JUNK. Email me at mailto:GWilliamsLyn@aol.com. thanks
I had my Kenmore Elite Oasis for 2 1/2 years, the power button stopped working and during the spin cycle the machine makes a strange noise. I had a Tech come out and tell me that the control panel needs to be replaced along with a new tub barrel. I told him "no way" was I going to pay for a repair that costs more than 1/2 for what I paid for the machine. The Tech told me it was due to the laundry deterigent that I was using, I checked the manual, no where does it instruct the customer to use a specific deterigent. I was always a customer of Sears not anymore! I will gladly join forces with anyone who wishes to pursue legal actions. Thanks.
I have the same washer and dryer pair that I bought in Aug 2006. I too have had a load of problems. Luckily I bought the extra warranty. They have been here 7 times to fix the washer. The latest issue is the F1 code. Somehow I was still covered. The board arrived a week before the scheduled appointment so I replaced it myself. I took care to ground myself and unplug the machine. Took photos of the hookups so I knew where everything went. Not that complicated at all. It is labeled as well. No F1 codes but now I continually get the UL(unbalanced load). They will be back on the first to fix. Turns out I bought the 5 year warranty.
I reciently tried to fix my oasis kenmore elite he model 110.27062603. I researched on this website and fixYa, and learned that the f 51 code is related to the motor rotor position sensor which sences the motors speed and if it is spinning OK. I read some post describing how the connection to the RPS sensor could be worn or coroded or loose. one of the chats on this subject refered to above (from the world of Washers) described how to take the sensor out (which is not that difficult if you are a handy person. (It involves taking the motor appart). So, I followed the instructions and took it out and re-assembled it. Stiil had the same problem. I decided to try changing the macine motor control (the computer for the wasing machine) I still had the same f 51 problem. Then I bought a new RPS sensor, and that didn't work either. Finally I kept trying to figure out how to open the top of the clothes washer to look for stuck clothing between the stationionary drum that holds the water and the rotating drum. Someone's posting had described opening the top, but I didn't know how to do this. furthermore, it seemed that I could rotate the drum easily by hand. I did a search on google on how to remove the drum, and there was a photo of the place to pry to open the top of the washer. there are 2 tabs that you have to press in on while lifting up on the top. use a putty knife or a flat screw driver. the place to press is from the outside, on the front of the washer, about 6 inches from each corner. So, I opened the top cover of the washer (the lid part and the metal part around the lid hinged up and back. then was able to un- snap the plastic cover over the drum and I found a bra that was causing enough friction between the drums that it would cause the RPS sensor to think there was a problem. So, Now the machine works fine again. I found a technicians troubleshooting manual which lists all the error codes. It was underneath the inside front of the washer, in a clear plastic bag. It described how to get into the diagnostic test mode in which you can test the washer as it performs varous functions. In the manual test mode, I was able to get the motor to spin at 3 different speeds, slow (23 rpm I think, medium 550 rpm, and 1000 rpm, so I figured there wasn't any problem with the drum, and I thought the computer or the rps needed to be replaced. Anyhow, I spent several days and over $300 in parts before I finally just removed the clothing that was stuck between the drum.

I have a sears OASIS MODEL#110.27032603 and have the F1 problem. There is
no way to place the clothes in the washer with out the F1 coming up
at least 3 or 4 times a load. I'm ready to call out sears for service, but
after reeding some of the comments, is this a waste of time? Is the F1 problem a part of the CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT?
The law firm of Andrus Anderson LLP is investigating owner complaints about the oasis contact them at 415-986-1400 the class action suit was filed in 2008.
There's so much DIS-information out there now that the truth about these machines probably won't ever be disclosed. I've examined the primary control board and found things that just shouldn't "be" in a washing machine - mechanical relays, pressure sensor susceptible to changes in humidity, an agitator that should disengage but won't when certain articles of clothing are washed. Sears owes its customers on this one, big time. The error on our machine (LF) always happens at 17 minutes remaining, during the rinse cycle, and for a long time I thought it meant the on-board pressure sensor wasn't working right. I'd recalibrated the sensor too many times to count, and still couldn't find the problem. Then just the other day I had an epiphany - what if the agitator wasn't disengaging? So after the fifth or so LF error I stopped the machnine and removed all the DENIM JEANS inside, then reached down and lifted the agitator, giving it half a turn or so, then closed the lid. Sure enough, when I hit the start button it carried on through to the next step. I stopped it again, put all the jeans back inside, closed the lid and hit 'Start' and for that load of clothes it didn't fault again. I don't qualify for an "upgrade"... I don't want one. I want my money back, or proper compensation for the piece of sh*t washer Sears sold me.
I bought my Kenmore Oasis in 2008. I've never had an Error message on the panel. BUT and this is a huge BUT- this washer is not a good cleaning machine at all. Yes I use HE detergent etc. My laundry appears dirty and dingy. If a kleenex runs thru a full cycle including extra-rinse...that kleenex comes out in "one piece". I can't even give this washer away! I hate it!
I hate mine, too. Wish I had my old machine back and it was only working on one cycle. It was much superior to this piece of crap!!! Kenmore Oasis doesn't clean, shreds clothes, ties everything into knots and wrinkles things so badly nothing can get the wrinkles out. This was designed by a stupid man. Another stupid man, my husband, bought it and brought it home. Morons!!!
After getting the error code F1 problem fixed with a new mother board, the tech ran a test cycle and said, "that isn't your only problem. The bearings are going out and it will start leaking." Bingo, just like he said, the spin cycle has gotten progressively louder, deafening, and now it leaks. Wow! what a piece of overpriced junk! If Kenmore/Whirlpool fails to make it right with me I will load the washer on my flatbed trailer and take it everywhere I go and enter every parade within a 100 mile radius of my home. I'll let everyone I come in contact with know what kind of junk Sears sells and Kenmore/whirlpool manufactures. I WILL NOT SPEND ANOTHER PENNY ON THE WASHER AND I WILL NOT GO AWAY QUIETLY!!!
Our Kenmore Oasis washer recently died-it just will not start. Periodically I can push the buttons and get a beep but that is it. Got so mad at Sears with their pricing for repair we called someone else. He replaced the main board but no luck. That left him at a loss so he said we needed to call Sears as he had no access to their tech support since he did not work for them. We constantly got UL error codes. The worst washer I have ever owned. Now we have to wait a week for a Sears repair person and hope they have the parts. And it is not like their are a ton of laundromats around.
Our Kenmore Elite Oasis has had trouble from the start. Had F1 from the secend week we had it. Finaly found out it was a recall part. A tech came out and replaced it and when he did it blow up the mother board. Next thing I knew I was out $325.00. Then about a week laster started showing UL or u1. Next it was the pump $126.00 and now I'm told the part I need which is just a ((rubber piece)) I have to replace the whole outter tub $288.00. Just to fix the UL or u1. I'm sick to my stomach. Had a Kenmore for 10 years never gave me no problems, but this one has. Paid a arm and leg for a good washer and got the shaft. Whirlpool and Sears should replace all of our machines for nothing. Very unhappy with Sears and Whirlpool. Wish I could make them give me my money back and pay me for having to go to the laundromat each time I was without a washer. Shame on this large company who don't care about their customers.
I hate the words Kenmore Oasis. I read the above comments and just kept nodding my head. ALL of those problems are the exact things we experienced! We had the problems with the twisting and fraying of our clothes at first. We may have had our washer about 3 months before the first error code. I figured I didn't read the information packet well enough and readjusted the load to get it to work. After the first few codes, I read the manual. Then, read it again. Thus begun our fun, worthless calls to Sears Customer Service. By the 6 month time, we had a repairman come out. Not sure what exactly he did but I do know what when he left it was working again BUT the lid wouldn't lock. I called back about that being unsafe and was told "it will be fine". I didn't have to worry long because a few days later, the washer had "coded" for its last time. We called nonstop to Sears and they eventually sent us a replacement board for free after MUCH persuasion! Unfortunately, even a brand spankin' new board was no help. Within weeks, it was the same old story! I filed with a class action lawsuit that I found online over a year ago. Still nothing. I pulled our 18 year old Kenmore washer out of storage and that is what we are using now. I just am FURIOUS that Sears hasn't accepted responsibility for it at all. I don't know if that is the way they now do business but we were loyal customers for years. However, this has really ruined our opinion of them and we won't be buying anything else from them. Ever!
my name is Rose, residing in Westchester County, NY, we also have same F51 Error code, this machine must be recalled.
We have the Kenmore Oasis HE washer Serial # CT 49... purchased in February, 2007. We've experienced all of the error codes mentioned by others, but more recently it can take >100 presses on the Power button to get the machine to turn on, and the same for the Start button. The wash cycle dial also has a mind of its own. Has anyone else experienced this issue which seems like an electrial short of some kind? Thanks.
Don't even get me started. While the problem may be a faulty washer, the bigger problem is the way Sears/WP is handling this matter. After I got four or five times in the same week I knew something was wrong...Step forward 2 weeks later and I get the dreaded P codes. I have now had a tech out 6 times. I have repeatedly asked that I be allowed an exchange. all through my regular and extended warranty. Never once did they budge. It's a complete lemon and they know it! Now my extended warranty expires next week and I know it will throw another code after that!
I have already made a decision never to buy anything at Sears again. This is why they are slowly going out of business. They don't stand behind the products they sell, instead they just make you go through 3rd world phone support until finally you just give up!
I have made sure to tell everyone I know NEVER to buy from Sears again.
After owning a Kenmore washer for over 20 yrs., I was very disappointed after we purchased the Kenmore Oasis. It started doing “strange” things after only three and a half yrs. Mine refuses to start when I push the button. If I have enough time and patience, I stand there and start pushing buttons and praying. It is constantly coming up with all kinds of fault codes. It will not let me select any setting at all. I can’t control the water temp. or water level. The cycle signal beeps constantly all day and night. Obviously the electronic control panel has a mind of its own. If it does feel like starting, it looks like a Christmas tree with all the lights blinking. It goes through every soil level, water level, and temp. setting, constantly switching its settings the whole time. The beeping never stops. It scared me to death one day when with the lid open and the machine off, it decided to start spinning and filling with water. It does whatever it wants to and when it wants to do it. I finally had to start unplugging it. I’m convinced it is possessed! Sears wants over $400.00 to repair it. Are they serious? That’s more than half of what it cost brand new. We have been loyal customers to Sears for over 25yrs. Every major appliance in our home has come from Sears. Based on all the negative reports on this washer, Sears should stand behind it. I have always felt protected and safe shopping at Sears, but not anymore. They have done nothing but rip people off by not making this right.
We also have the F1 error going on for 3 months. I was always able to get the machine to eventually do a load after numerous stops & starts. Well today I found water all over the floor...what now? I hate this washer & regret I spent so much on it. I think we will trash the washer before paying any more to fix it based on the other claims of continuing problems. Sear should be responsive to its customers because they are losing them fast!
I just spent $79.95 on a “diagnostic” from the local repair shop. I purchased my Oasis washer in 2007 and the extended warranty. I have had a repair man here every year since purchasing this washer for UL, CPU board, agitator issues, and error code. My warranty ran out 10/2011 and I’m having the UL issue with wash “even when there is nothing in the washing machine”. The technician said the shaft has gotten bent from stress of the previous UL problems. Now it will cost me $200+ for the part, $100+ for the install, and the $79.95 I just spent for the diagnostic service call. I did not get any recall notice because they said it wasn’t in the recall list. I called the US Consumer Safety and Protection, they said they couldn’t help if it wasn’t causing a safety issue. I called the VA State Consumer Protection Office, they said to file a complaint and they would investigate and contact the company on my behalf. I’ve called Sears twice and they want me to spent $129+ for another “diagnostic” technician. I just want it replaced or the repair covered. It can’t run a load without needing manual intervention. And my husband has started taking the clothes to the laundry mat. I spent around $600 for the washer in 2007. I didn’t even know until today that Whirlpool makes these washers, I was told it was a Kenmore (Sears product). I wont buy another Sears applicance. I want to be included in any class action.
I think it's very comical to read all these people who say 'luckily I bought the extended warranty'. We bought the warranty also - 13 repair visits in the first three years - 6 weeks before warranty expired we renewed due to the lies of the supervisors supervisor promising a replacement if we had any issues within 12 months - 2 months later, new issue - supervisors supervisor no longer with the company - 4 repairs in that following year.
As for the service technicians...the first service call we made 6 weeks after purchase was due to the washer leaking. The teh told my wife 'these machines just drip water because all the baffles they use to keep them quiet get wet'. She called me while I was at work to inform me of his expert opinion - I had her throw him out as I called sears to get someone with at least a middle school education. Really, my $1200 washing machine that sits on my $14000.00 wood floor 'just leaks'??? Next technician came out to discover that the geniuses from Sears delivery never leveled the machine since they could only spend 22 minutes in my house to get a $50 tip.
Now the machine is about 5 years old...will not complete a load of laundry without the UL code due to that fact that the drum or basket or whatever seems to not even be attached to machine anymore...the hinges on the lid are both rusted out and essentially gone so that the lid is not even actually attached anymore...machine has ruined well over $1000 worth of clothing...it has cost my wife and I over 100 hours of time off of work waiting for repair technicians who never show up with all the information we call in about if they even show up at all...we spent over $500 in the warranties...I could go on and on and on.
With all of these unknown cost, we could've bought a new $500 washer every year and still been ahead of the game.
If anyone is really still considering buying one of these I'll give you a great deal.
I have the same problem and I HATE this washer! It finally completely died tonight. It was purchased about 3 years ago. Sears should be ashamed!! The spin cycle has been sounding like a helicopter taking off for some time. I have had two different repair men look at it. I spent good money on this washer and really can't afford to buy another one now. I expected this washer to last for many years. How do I find out more about this class action suit? Is it too late?
I have a Kenmore washing machine that has nothing but problems my latest is the F50 error. I have had Sears repaimen out to the house usually to tell me that they know the problem but do not have the parts, so they have to order the part have it delivered to my house and I can call and set up 2nd repair sevice. By the time all this occurs I am without a washing machine for 2-3 weeks makes no sense. I have stated to Sears that My family will never purchase anything from Sears again. Customer service and repair suck and their appliances and electronics are horrible. Not only has my washer had to be repaired but the dryer and Toshiba TV has had mutiple problems and now is broken and do not know what else to do
It seems that we all have the same problems with this defective machine. Is there anyone at this site that can contact me about a suit against sears and kenmore? Paid too much for this to be happening.
Thanks for this site,at least i know i am not alone with the problems i have with OASIS from Kenmore. Keep getting the F1 code andhave to stop and start the washer multiple times before it finishes the cycle
I call kenmore and they said my serial number which starts CU isnt covered. Only Serial numbers with CS are covered.
I have all my appliances from Sears but for something so expensive to go kaput in 3 years is not worth the money and when Kenmore refuses to acknowlege the problem and fix it says poorly for Sears.
I am a very disappointed Sears customer. I have talked to thier customer services which is determined to charge me for parts and labor. I think for a known defect that SEARS should step up and fix it for all folks it has sold the machine to..
Purchased the Oasis Kenmore Elite 2007 and it does not clean, and at this writing, and after having the stablizier replaced on 11-11-11, it is worse than before. UL comes on during pounding spin cycle. Machine sounds like it is going to explode. Repair guy calls and said my tub is in suspension and admits it's junk. He called instead of showing today and said I told you so. Maybe we should replace the tub. My clothes are laying in the tub wet because the machine is unbalanced and can't spin correctly. He said I'm only the installer can't replace the machine. I called to ask for a superviser, and got sent from one person to another. I am extremely mad and will never ever purchase ANYTHING FROM SEARS. I DON'T CARE WHAT IT IS.
my washing machine had the f50 code....tech came out - replaced the board (it soumded like Sears knew about these faulty boards and was suppose to have them all replaced) After he replaced the board...charged me 150.00 service fee and then tried to sell me a one year warrenty contract. NOw my washing machine is doing the OL code...saying it is unbalanced...even if it is not over balanced. ANy suggessions to what to do next?
has anyone tried calling their attorney general? i think that is my next step after getting the run around from 8 different customer solutions phone calls. all say my serial is not in range. no one cares that the F1 error is still causing the same issues, and has obviously not been fixed. my bet is that they just put out the same part under a new serial number to get out of the recall.
My wife and I bought a GE washer when we were first married,16 years and three kids later it was time for a new washer. We "upgraded" to the Oasis for a number of reasons, it was supposed to be energy effcient, be better for our clothes, and last but not least was backed by the reliablity of the Sears Kenmore/Whirlpool names. We bought into all that crap none of which is true by our experience, and yes I puchased the 3 year extended warrantee. This piece of shit has literally been rebuilt part by part. water pump, stainless steel tub, bearings, motherboard, sensors and wiring. the motor was also disasembled and serviced. The service contract is now expired and this waste of space has ceased to function yet again.(F33 error). It's not too hard to figure out why Sears is going under. I will buy a new washer from anybody but Sears. And when I kick this piece of shit to the curb, I'll take a sledge hammer to it so it can't torture any innocent garbage pickers who may think they have a shot a repairing it. Whoever designed this abortion should be fired.
I have had an Oasis HE by Kenmore for a few years now. Have had the same issues with the F1 error codes and other codes. Never had the mother board replaced because can't afford to have the service repair cost. The board has seemed to correct itself because it washes just fine now. It does twist the clothes sometimes and makes the sheets look like the head of a jelly fish when done with spin cycle. The problem that I am having now is the really Loud spin cycle like the bearings are going out. I have seen that in a lot of posts in this thread and many other threads that the outer tub assembly needs to be replaced. I have watched videos on how to tear the machine down and repair and will most likely be doing the repair myself. However, I read in one post, which I can't find again, that someone got their inner and outer tub replaced under a 10 original factory warranty and just paid labor for the repair. Has anyone else seen that post?
Our Oasis Elite HE is also throwing codes and completing stopping at the 17minute mark. At first when it started happening I thought it was a fluke. Especially considering the amount of money we spent to buy such a top of the line energy efficent piece of machinery (yeah right!) I guess I have no idea where to turn after reading all of the unresolved complaints on here. I sure expected a washer and dryer to last more than 3 years!
We just fixed our Oasis Elite HE washer...we'll see how long it lasts. We bought it about 5 years ago. A few years later we received a control board in the mail with a note that said Sears was replacing it as part of a recall and that a service tech would be coming to install it at no charge. We were seeing some excessive vibration then but the wash cycles were still completing.
Then about 6 months ago we started getting the UL code on every load. I did a lot of research on the internet and found that it could be caused by a bad rotor position sensor (RPS), a bad control board, or clothes that had somehow gotten between the inner and outer tub. So I took the machine apart and found a pair of underwear underneath the inner tub. I put it back together and the vibration was marginally better. But it wasn't long and we were getting the UL code again.
So I ordered a new RPS sensor from an appliance parts store on the internet. For my particular model number, Whirlpool (they are the manufacturer, Sears just sells them under the Kenmore name) redesigned the sensor so it connects more securely to the wiring harness and has less chance of vibrating loose. So I had to buy a kit that includes the redesigned wiring harness and RPS. While searching for the best price I noticed that some places even called this a washer unbalance kit.
After I installed the kit I started getting an F51 code, which means it's a bad RPS. Since that's what I just replaced and since I had not been getting this code before, I reasoned that I had gotten a bad part. I called the company that I ordered it from and they sent another one. I just got it two days ago, installed it, and it works beautifully. The F51 code is gone, and it spins smoothly with no more UL codes.
its a piece of shit. nothing but issues for the past 4 years!
I agree. Piece of shit. Takes me hours to do 1 load of laundry. Always goes off balance with 6 minutes left in cycle. Have to remove clothes and rearrange them in washer numerous times. I paid over $2000 for the washer and dryer and the dryer isn't much better either. Always showing AF (air flow) code. I cleaned the vent on the back, the one connecting to the wall and the through my roof too! Still comes on. Whatever. I've had it with both. Shouldn't have to get so frustrated from just doing a load of laundry.
I bought my Kenmore Elite Oasis set in July 2006. Paid $2000.00 for the set you would think you would be getting high quality. In the first year I had it they had to replace the control board. Now I have replaced the drain pump 4 times. I check pockets when I do laundry but occassionally a coin or two will get down into the washer and it goes to the drain pump. I cracks it and water leaks everywhere. Everytime I replace this part it costs me $100.00. So now I have spent $1500.00 on the washer alone. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a screen for this pump? I don't think I am going to replace the part this time. Just gonna buy a new washer. Never Sears again, they don't back their products.
All I can say to you Sears is F2 You! Thanks for nothing and for selling such a piece of crap washer. I come from a family where we have all had Kenmore appliances. NONE of our family will ever buy Kenmore again.
I bought my Kenmore Oasis washer Jan. 30, 2009. I am now almost 69 yrs. old & live alone. I too had issues with this machine early on during the warrany period & a svc. tech came out. He could not duplicate my concern which was the loud knocking sound I heard intermittently on some loads. I knew a washer should not be doing that during agitation but of course the noise continued. What eventually ocurred was the UL code and Code F 51 as well as Code F1. Finally the machine simply would not finish the load & I had soaking wet clothes that would not spin out & what a mess that was. The svc. tech that came out did see that code issues had occurred but beyond that he didn't see a problem. I practically had to stand on my head to get the tech to listen to me. No one knows their appliances better than the customer & Sears techs need to respect that. I told him that there was something very badly wrong with this machine & I wasn't going to let him leave without finding the problem. He finally gave up, lifted the machine so he could see the underside & he almost immediately found that the stator/motor was cracked & the rotor was being held on only by a magnet! I didn't try calling a Sears VP, I got the mailing address for the CEO & sent him a letter regarding this machine & the fact that no reasonable person should or could expect a Sears washer to fail in a couple of years & especially when it saw such light use by a senior living alone. Sears did finally replace the motor at no cost to me but only after much dialog with a Chicago customer service person. I now have an issue with the noise level of this machine sounding like a jet engine about to take off. I surely hope that isn't the bearings! Another service call & expense coming up for this worthless machine. I did indeed contact the law firm that has filed a class action against Sears regarding this washer. andrusandersonLLP.com in San Francisco is the firm.
what do you expect for a Chinese manufactured piece of dung. I am presently in unbalanced ( UL ) hell.
Sears is fast becoming a four letter word.
