Couple weeks ago a reporter from KSEE TV sent me a message. She was doing a story on frontload washers and mold, herself a victim of this problem. She was looking for information on the problem, but I was not really able to provide her with any new information I do not have on my blog.
I did send a message to a few different people I know in the biz, but didn't learn anything new that way, either. I also sent a message to Consumer Reports, but was sent a message that basically said (paraphrasing) "We are too busy to address your questions". Guess I shouldn't have expected much from them.
Anyway, here is a link to the video. Ms. Booroojian did a good job with this, and I was gratified to see she didn't take the opportunity to throw the manufacturers under the bus. There is no doubt this is a problem, but there are measures that can be taken to prevent this problem, and the manufacturers have to attempt to communicate these measures to the consumer.
The best way to prevent this is to leave the door open on your washer. That doesn't mean all the time, but leaving the door open will help to dry out the drum.
